Everything you need to know about iPhone SE 2022

After months of rumors and leaks, Apple finally unveiled the brand new third generation of iPhone SE 5G 2022. The device comes with 5G, the new A15 Bionic chipset, improved camera capabilities on both the front and back, and supports 20W fast charging. The iPhone SE 2020 lacks 5G, it doesn’t support MagSafe, and it still has an outdated design with massive bezels. The new iPhone SE delivers best-in-class performance and great photos for an affordable price, if you can live with a small screen. Here’s everything you need to know before you upgrade from the iPhone SE 2020.

The new iPhone SE 5G 2022 is the latest iPhone in Apple’s lineup to feature 5G, and it’s the cheapest and most affordable device in the entire iPhone lineup. The new device still has a 4.7-inch LCD display with the same resolution, but it has a faster A15 Bionic chipset, and improved battery thanks to the power-efficient SoC.

Everything you need to know about iPhone SE 2022
  • The iPhone SE 3 generation delivers flagship-level performance, thanks to its A15 Bionic chip, so you should expect iPhone 13-like speed when multitasking or playing games.
  • 5G mmWave performance is solid. We saw close to 195 Mbps downloads on Thee and Vodafone mobile.
  • 4.7 inches is tiny for a phone display in 2022, so you really need to want a small phone if you’re shopping for the iPhone SE.
  • Camera quality from the new iPhone SE is excellent but we wish there was a Night mode.

What about the colours?

As you can see on the pictures, the new iPhone SE 2022 is available in three color options, like its predecessor. The iPhone SE 2022 comes in Midnight (Black), Starlight (White), and (PRODUCT) RED color options.

How about design?

The iPhone SE 3 2022 comes with an identical design to the iPhone SE 2020. It has the same design as the iPhone 8 from 2017. While the back design still looks great, the front is outdated by today’s bezel-less standards. While the design is nothing to brag about, we’re glad to still see the IP67 certification that ensures water and dust resistance.

Display and Camera

The bad news is that the iPhone SE 2022’s camera hardware has not changed. You get just a single 12MP rear wide camera, so there’s not ultra-wide lens, which you’ll find on the iPhone 11. And the front camera continues to be have a low-resolution 7MP sensor. But the good news is that the addition of the A15 Bionic processor opens up new camera features and capabilities through computational photography. This includes Smart HDR 4 for handling tricky lighting while providing better rendering of faces, Deep Fusion for better details and textures and Photographic Styles for giving you more creative control. Where the iPhone SE 2022 falls down is its lack of Night mode. It simply can’t take longer exposures like the iPhone 11. When it gets to video, the phone can record in 4K at up to 60 fps. The front-facing camera is a 7MP sensor with f/2.2, and it supports the same features as the rear camera, including portrait mode, portrait lighting effects, deep fusion, and Smart HDR 4 for photos.

The iPhone SE 2022 comes with a 4.7-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1334 x 750 (326 PPI). The display is still locked at 60Hz. The iPhone SE’s LCD display has 625 nits of maximum brightness, which is still plenty enough to browse the web and play games in direct sunlight. The most notable letdown is the massive bezels on, which takes up a considerable amount of space, and it doesn’t look modern.

Its not the surprise that the iPhone SE 2022 is fast as it packs the same A15 Bionic chip that’s inside the iPhone 13. On Geekbench 5, which measures overall performance, the iPhone SE 2022 turned in a single-core score of 1,718 and a multi-core result of 4,482.
